Online holiday spending is up 15 percent through the first 39 days of the November-December holiday season, according to Reston-based Internet tracking firm comScore Inc.
Season-to-date online spending has reached $24.6 billion. Daily total e-commerce sales have topped $1 billion on six days, led by $1.25 billion spent on Cyber Monday, comScore says.
Cyber Monday spending was up 22 percent from the same day last year.
“As we enter what will be the heaviest week of the season for online retailers — beginning with Green Monday on Dec. 12 — all signs are now pointing to a strong finish to the season,” said comScore Chairman Gian Fulgoni.
EBay coined the term “Green Monday” in 2007 for the second Monday of December, which has tended to be among the heaviest online spending days of the year.
